Art Obsessions, July 2011

First, let's begin with the cutest picture ever:

Now, onto the art obsessions...

Right now, I am enamored with the following people/things:

*Molly Crabapple: I just found out about her and her art when I saw her Kickstarter project, Molly Crabapple's Week in Hell, and I love everything she does! I have known about Dr. Sketchy's Anti Art School, the burlesque-based life drawing classes Molly founded, for a while, but I didn't know anything about the founder herself. Do a search for her on YouTube to see some great interviews with her, tour her studio, and see some behind the scenes looks at her projects.

*Brandi Milne: This fantastic artist paints you into her amazing dream world of candy coated wonderlands. Check out her blog too; she has so many interesting things to share, as well as some process videos - I could watch her ink her paintings up for hours, ha ha!

*Victorian Reds...and the color red in general.

*Photo Lockets: It's all I can do to stay off eBay searching for lockets full of photos from the past.

*Encaustic Painting: I just tried this for the first time last month and am already obsessed. In case you don't know, it is painting with a mixture of wax and resin. Smells delicious, but make sure to do it outside - resin is toxic!

*Sketching/Sketchbooks: I'm always interested in these... There are a ton of great ones to look at here on Book By Its Cover.

What are some of your current art obsessions?
