How do you make art?

So I just finished self-publishing my book this afternoon, and now I am in need of a new project. The seeds of my new ideas are just beginning, but I need your help as I begin to develop the ideas a little bit further...

What have you always wondered about art and artmaking? What are some questions you would ask if you knew someone would have the definitive answers to them? Please leave some examples of questions you or someone else might ask in the comments section.

Some examples: What is art? What is good art? What is bad art? Are photographs art? What do you wear to an art opening? Etc...

Thanks in advance for your input!!

  1. Good one- What do you wear to an art opening?

    1. What is a good gift to buy an artist?

    2. Can I do 'printing' at home or do I have to have large expensive machinery?

    3. How do you price handmade art for sale?

Let me think of some more - I'll get back to you!!

  2. Congrats on your book! How fun!

    I would ask:

How can I be inspired to do art?

Where can I get honest and constructive feedback on my art?

My question was going to be about inspiration, but I see that one has already been asked. So I'll change it a little. What influence your art? What negative influences should I be on the alert for?

And congrats on your book. My husband is an author, too, and it's always exciting when he publishes one.

  4. Especially after flipping through your book and now that I started doing some textile printing, the thing that I find the most difficult is not the inspiration; there is too much inspiration everywhere, but taking your ideas to the next level and actually create and make them happen.

I find the difference between being inspirational and being creative to be huge and although my head is so full with ideas, when I actually sit down to sketch or decide about my next project, it is so hard to begin.
How do you overcome it and maybe you have some nice techniques for starting something new.

I hope I made myself clear, even in my head it is a bit confused...
I would simply title my question as - How to make it happen?
